Clinical & Prescribing Information
1. Therapeutic Indications & Overview
LETROPAL-2.5 contains Letrozole, a non-steroidal selective third-generation aromatase inhibitor. Originally developed as an oncological treatment, it is widely utilized off-label as a first-line agent for ovulation induction in women with anovulatory infertility.
Ovulation induction and female infertility management
2. Mechanism of Action
Letrozole inhibits the aromatase enzyme, which blocks the conversion of androgens to estrogens. The resulting temporary drop in systemic estrogen levels signals the pituitary gland to increase secretion of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), stimulating the development of dominant ovarian follicles.
3. Dosage & Administration
Generally administered as 2.5mg (1 tablet) daily for 5 days, starting on day 3, 4, or 5 of the menstrual cycle, under close gynaecological supervision.
*Note: The exact dosage schedule must be tailored to the individual clinical response and patient profile under doctor supervision.
4. Clinical Efficacy & Safety Profile
Clinical guidelines and comparative trials show that Letrozole achieves higher live-birth and ovulation rates than clomiphene citrate, especially in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
5. Precautions & Contraindications
Do not use during active pregnancy or if pregnancy is suspected. Side effects may include mild hot flashes, fatigue, or headache. Regular ultrasound monitoring is recommended to evaluate follicular growth.
