Clinical & Prescribing Information
1. Therapeutic Indications & Overview
CORNFYL-TZ contains Clindamycin Phosphate (a lincosamide antibiotic) and Clotrimazole (a broad-spectrum antifungal). It is formulated as a vaginal suppository to deliver targeted, high-concentration local therapy with minimal systemic exposure.
Treatment support for mixed vaginal infections
2. Mechanism of Action
Clindamycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, selectively clearing pathogens like Gardnerella vaginalis that cause bacterial vaginosis. Clotrimazole alters fungal cell membrane permeability, destroying Candida species responsible for yeast infections. Together, they resolve mixed vaginitis.
3. Dosage & Administration
Insert one suppository deeply into the vagina at bedtime for 7 consecutive days, or as directed by your physician. An applicator is provided for hygienic insertion.
*Note: The exact dosage schedule must be tailored to the individual clinical response and patient profile under doctor supervision.
4. Clinical Efficacy & Safety Profile
Combination therapy with clindamycin and clotrimazole provides rapid relief of symptoms (itching, discharge, odor) and achieves higher clinical cure rates compared to single-agent treatments for mixed vaginal infections.
5. Precautions & Contraindications
Avoid vaginal intercourse, douches, and tampons during the treatment course. Progesterone and Clindamycin vaginal products may weaken latex condoms or diaphragms; alternative contraception is advised.
