Bacterial infection treatment support
2. Mechanism of Action
Amoxicillin acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Many bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that destroy amoxicillin, rendering it inactive. Clavulanate potassium inactivates these enzymes, restoring amoxicillin's broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.
3. Dosage & Administration
Usually taken as one tablet twice daily, or as prescribed. It should be taken at the start of a meal to minimize potential gastrointestinal discomfort.
*Note: The exact dosage schedule must be tailored to the individual clinical response and patient profile under doctor supervision.
4. Clinical Efficacy & Safety Profile
This combination is a clinically established standard for treating acute bacterial sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and post-operative skin and structure infections.
5. Precautions & Contraindications
Do not use in patients with a history of penicillin allergy or cholestatic jaundice. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if symptoms disappear early, to prevent antibiotic resistance.
